Well, finally I got my hands around to try out this wonderful flourless, oil/butterless and (if replaced with honey) sugarless recipe. Frankly, I didn’t expect much, but it turned out to be a wonderful treat that I no doubt will be returning to every now and then. Zesty, light and moist this cake is a perfect tea ‘companion’ and a great finish to any meal. Enjoy! Continue reading
Rich Chocolate and Orange Mousse Dessert
Chocolate lovers, this one is for you. Enjoy an unbeatable upgrade of all-time favourite dessert – a zesty orange twist to a silky-smooth rich chocolate mousse. Continue reading
Mixed Spice and Honey Syrup Cheesecake
It’s been some time since last cheesecake, so cheesecake this week it will be. I love this recipe for a sublime balance of honey sweetness and lemon zestiness, which smoothly glides over the silky texture of cheesecake. A perfect ending to any meal. Or, for those like me, a meal of its own. Continue reading
Blueberry Meringue Kisses
Travelling with my visitors around China, I missed last week’s blog update, although I have quite a few things in store by now. I decided to make those melt-in-the-mouth blueberry delights for two simple reasons: blueberry is in season now in Shanghai, and I had 3 egg whites “to get rid of”. Not the worst use of those, I imagine. Continue reading
Pink Velvet Raspberry Cupcakes
This one has been ‘in store’ since January, but I guess the time has finally come. Introducing this week: Pink Velvet Raspberry Cupcakes. I made 2 different versions of those delightful individual treats, try either (or both) with afternoon tea. Another good thing about this dessert – both fresh and frozen berries can be used, so no need to wait for raspberry season. Enjoy! Continue reading
Caramel Fondants
Richly indulgent, delicious and with a silky runny centre, these desserts are just sublime. I somewhat fancy those over “traditional” chocolate fondants, for they are lighter, moderately sweet and truly sensuous, making the perfect ending to any meal. Continue reading
Passionfruit Madeira Cake
It has been unforgivably long since my last update, being away from my kitchen is one of the downsides of travelling. I’m finally back with another easy-to-make delight, Passionfruit Madeira Cake. Mild sweetness of passionfruit enriches this wonderful dessert together with its tangy sour hint – a perfect treat for the afternoon tea. Continue reading
White Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake
Well whad’ya know…surprise-surprise, it’s another cheesecake week. Strawberry is in season now, so time to make a good use of it. I generally prefer the taste of a baked cheesecake over a chilled one (and those who feel the same can also try out this recipe of White Choc mini-Cheesecakes), but this is somewhat another exception. Rich, flavourful, yet light and silky-tender with great berry-boost. Simply wonderful. Continue reading
Baked Chocolate Mousse Cakes with Salty Caramel Sauce
Finally the holidays are over, travels are on hold for the next few weeks and I’m back at my kitchen! This week introducing a revision of an all-time favourite – chocolate mousse. Silky texture of baked chocolate mousse cakes is beautifully balanced with a salty twist of caramel sauce. In one word – irresistible. Continue reading
