Choc Chip Cookies

Step-by-step Recipe


  • 125g butter, at room temperature
  • 185g brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 215g flour, plain
  • 250g dark chocolate bites/chips


Preheat oven to 180C. Line a large baking tray with baking paper. Beat the butter and sugar in a
large bowl.

Mix in the vanilla essence. Beat the egg lightly. Gradually add the egg to cookie mixture, beating

Stir in the milk. Add baking powder to the flour and sift the dry ingredients into the cookie mixture.

Fold the sifted flour and baking powder into the butter-and-egg mixture. Add the dark chocolate

Drop level tablespoons of the cookie mixture onto the baking tray, leaving about 4cm between each
cookie (as they will spread during baking). Lightly press each cookie with a (floured) fork.

Bake the cookies for 15mins or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.
Best consumed with cold milk.
